Art transcends all ages at ISW

Here are a number of examples of our Learning Partners’ art work from the last few weeks. At ISW we give focus to different skills, depending on the ability and age of our students.

  • Early Years and Reception Learning Partners have been developing their cutting skills.
  • Year 1 have been applying their knowledge and understanding of lines to represent sound waves, as part of our unit on Sound and Art.
  • Year 2 have been applying their knowledge and understanding of shapes to create art works inspired by a Native American artist.
  • Year 5 have been creating individual creative compositions based on art and the past.
  • Year 6 have been creating their own characters to illustrate an image based on their unit on adventures.
  • Year 7-8 have been developing observational skills while learning to use multiple mediums.
  • Year 9-10 have been exploring shading techniques using different kinds of pastels.

Art plays an important role here at ISW as not only does it teach our Learning Partners about art appreciation, but furthermore plays an important role in the development of ta range of skills, whether this be motor skills, language skills, social skills, decision-making, risk-taking or inventiveness.
