Believing in Success with Reception

Reception class have had a wonderful start to the school year. The children have settled in well to school life and the routines of Reception class. We have spent time exploring the classroom and getting to know each other.

We have been perfecting our fine motor skills with dough disco and funky finger daily workouts. This helps us build the muscles in our hands ready for writing. The children have started to learn and explore letters and are beginning to blend words to read. We have been writing letters and writing our names and some of us have even been writing sentences! In maths, we have been playing lots of counting games, exploring numbers and what they represent. We learned about estimation and ordinal numbers. In our topic work, we have been finding out about our amazing bodies and how to keep them healthy.

Last week we had our athletics day. The Reception children showed great sporting skills, well done Reception!
