ISW launches new house point system for Learner Profile talent

Today’s primary assembly led by our Year Five students and their mentor, Kara, saw the launch of our new house point system in the primary school. Going forward, house points will be awarded to LPs for exhibiting elements of the learner profile here at ISW.

The Learner Profile represents ten attributes which we believe can help individuals and groups become responsible members of local, national and global communities. The Learner Profiles, along with the SBW Fractal, form the foundation of ISW’s school values and educational approach.
The learner profiles are:

Communicators

We are communicators when we are able to effectively transfer thoughts, ideas and concepts in a way in which the receiver is able to clearly understand and therefore react in a constructive and appropriate manner.

Principled

We are principled when we are respectful, responsible, honest and fair. We are principled when we make informed choices and accept the consequences for my actions.

Caring

We aim to have a positive impact on the world around us. In so doing we create a safe environment where everyone feels welcome and valued and their needs are listened to and met in a kind and respectful manner.

Thinkers

We examine and analyze critically to make logical solutions for complex problems. We consider a variety of ideas to make reasoned decisions for the benefit of global society and ourselves.

Open-Minded

We are flexible instead of fixed in our thinking and actions. We respect and use form everyone to help us live and learn together.

Knowledgeable

We make connections between learning and life experiences, to form deeper understanding. We understand local and global issues, which will enable us to create a brighter future.

Risk-Takers

We are willing to try and leave our comfort zone and try new things. We think through the situation logically and understand we can learn through failure.

Reflective

We try our best to explore ways in which we can improve. We know our own strengths and weaknesses and can devise action plans to improve our performance.

Inquirers

We use collaboration and independent learn skills to ask questions and find answer

Balanced

We are well-rounded individuals who value all aspects of life.
