Cambridge Primary Years Programme (ages 5-12)

The International School Westpfalz enables students (learning partners) to become life-long learners and equips them with the academic and life skills needed to be responsible global citizens within a rapidly changing world. By implementing the prestigious Cambridge Primary Years Programme, ISW offers learning partners a wide range of subjects and learning experiences. Our students benefit from a friendly, stimulating, engaging and challenging learning environment.

The Cambridge Primary Years Programme provides a strong foundation for students at the beginning of their schooling before progressing through the Cambridge Pathway. Beginning with Reception (ages 4-5) and ending in Year 6 (ages 11-12), our Primary Years Programme offers Mathematics, English, Science, Social Studies, Art, Music and Physical Education which are all taught in English. ISW also places a strong emphasis on learning German, and offers additional support for non-English as well as non-German speakers.

Inquiry-Based Learning

We believe that inquiry is a powerful tool to learn about the world around us. Learning in the Primary School is a holistic learning experience that integrates socio-emotional, physical and cognitive development. We deliver the curriculum largely through Units of Study which integrate all of the core subjects. Our teachers are highly qualified and understand how to best support children achieve their potential.

Our goal is to prepare our students to take positive action in an interconnected and changing world. We encourage them to show respect for themselves, others and the environment and to enjoy learning throughout their lives, so that they become responsible internationally-minded citizens.

We understand children learn and develop in different ways. That is why we give students opportunities to have collaborative and stand-alone experiences in all subject areas. Our students come from diverse cultures and linguistic backgrounds whom we support to become internationally minded people. Learning in an international environment, with many different nationalities represented, offers a rich and advantageous experience for all the children.
