CURRENT OPENING

IT / ICT Lead

The IT / ICT Lead will be responsible for the reliability, security, and development of the school’s IT systems, infrastructure, and digital services. The role combines hands-on technical support with system administration, vendor coordination, and contributions to broader school administration and data processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite and remote 1st / 2nd line support to staff and students across Windows laptops, iPads, and classroom AV technology.
  • Administer and support Microsoft 365 and related identity and directory services, including user and licence management.
  • Manage endpoints through appropriate tools (e.g. Intune / MDM solutions), including enrolment, policies, app deployment, and security baselines.
  • Maintain the local network (LAN, switches, WiFi, firewalls) and coordinate with internet service providers on circuits and connectivity.
  • Oversee server and virtual infrastructure, backups, and disaster recovery routines.
  • Manage print and copy services and liaise with print and telephone vendors.
  • Coordinate and manage external IT suppliers and service providers, ensuring high-quality and responsive support.
  • Plan and communicate any IT-related downtime or changes, working around the school timetable and minimising disruption.
  • Maintain asset registers, licence records, and clear, up-to-date technical documentation.
  • Promote good cyber security practice and compliance with GDPR and German data protection requirements across the school.
  • Support wider school administration, including data systems, digital workflows, reporting tools, and general office IT needs.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Strong technical knowledge of networking (LAN, switches, firewalls), Microsoft 365 cloud services, and identity/directory services.
  • Good knowledge of Windows devices, endpoint management tools, and common classroom technologies.
  • Experience providing IT support in a complex organisation; experience in an educational setting is a strong advantage.
  • Ability to explain technical matters clearly to non-technical staff and to coordinate activities that affect users.
  • Strong problem-solving, organisation, and customer-service skills, with the ability to work independently.
  • Right to work in Germany; good English language skills are required, and German is an advantage.
