Exciting musical start

It has been an exciting spring so far in the music room! Whether it be in classes, After School Clubs, or free practice time; learning partners have been working exceptionally hard on their curriculum and preparing for the summer show!

Early Years and Reception have been focusing on singing, developing their aural skills, and learning to play classroom percussion instruments. They have been learning about steady beat, taking turns in a group, and songs about peace.

Year 1 and 2 started this spring with learning some really fun folk dances, and are now working on preparing their challenging new songs for the summer concert.

Years 3 and 4 have really strengthened their music reading skills, and have just begun to learn the recorder to reinforce their skills. The learning partners are very excited about our “Recorder Karate” program, where they can work at their own pace and earn recorder karate belts each time they complete a new song or skill.

Year 5 and 6 have just wrapped up a unit on electronic music, where each learning partner got to compose their own piece using the iPads.

Ukulele club is starting to learn much more challenging pieces. A singing club is being offered during recess time on Monday, free of cost for any year 3-6 learning partner who wants to join!

And last but not least, we are very much looking forward to our Summer Concert on the last day of school, June29th!
