School policy regarding the Coronavirus (13.03.2020)

“Following the first reports of cases of acute respiratory syndrome in the Chinese Wuhan municipality at the end of December 2019, Chinese authorities have identified a novel coronavirus as the main causative agent. The outbreak has rapidly evolved affecting other parts of China and outside the country. Cases have been detected in several countries in Asia, but also in Australia, Europe, Africa and North America. Further global spread is likely.

This Coronvirus known as COVID-19 is a new strain of coronavirus that has not been previously identified in humans. The source of infection is unknown and could still be active. This is an emerging, rapidly evolving situation with ongoing outbreak investigations.”

We are monitoring the Risk areas being reported by the Robert Koch Institute and are informing families and staff members accordingly.

  • Italy
  • Iran
  • China: Province Hubei (including city of Wuhan)
  • South Korea: Province Gyeongsangbuk-do (North-Gyeongsang)
  • In France: Region Grand East (This region includes Alsace, Lothringen and Champagne-Ardenne)

Any member of our school community (students, parents or staff) who have visited any of these risk areas, or who have been in contact with anyone who has visited one of these risk areas, must remain at home for a period of 14 days and be symptom free before returning to school.

Any member of the school community (students, parents or staff) who have tested positive, or who have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive MUST inform the school immediately and await instructions before entering the school or making contact with any member of the school community.

At ISN and ISW, the safety of our community is paramount. We are working closely together with the Ministry of education and Ministry of Health in Rheinland-Pfalz to ensure that we fulfill all requirements and steps. A full emergency plan has been set up at both schools to ensure that we can continue to operate In the case of an eventual school closure.
