MARCH 2026
HEAD OF SCHOOL
Dear ISW Families,
I’m excited to share that beginning this month, our ISW Bytes newsletter will be available exclusively online through our school website. This move allows us to deliver updates more efficiently and sustainably. A special thank you goes to Ms. Hoa from our Marketing Team for leading this digital transition and ensuring our communications continue to reflect the vibrant energy of our school community.
Academic and Achievement Awards
We recently celebrated our annual Academic and Achievement Awards Ceremony, a highlight of our school calendar where we recognize outstanding student accomplishments. This year’s awards were presented by Landstuhl Mayor Mattia De Fazzio and Mr. Jan Schneider, Co-CEO of SBW—two inspiring partners whose presence made the event truly special. Congratulations to our award recipients:
Their hard work and dedication are wonderful examples of the spirit and ambition that define ISW
students.
ISW Gym Renovation Update
We’re thrilled to see exciting progress on our new ISW gym, located in the former ASC rooms. A brand-new floor has been installed, and equipment is being added each week. When completed, this facility will give our students a modern, well-equipped space for sports, fitness, and wellbeing activities—supporting both mind and body in our holistic approach to education.
ISW officially joined the ECIS- Educational Collaborative for International Schools (ECIS)
This prestigious honor is a testament to our commitment to excellence, global-mindedness, and the highest standards of international education. Our educators now have access to world-class professional development, ensuring ISW remains at the forefront of modern pedagogy.
A Note on Togetherness
In times when global tensions seem to be rising, let us continue to uphold our ISW values of kindness, respect, and unity within our school community. While each of us may hold different perspectives on world events, what binds us is stronger—our shared commitment to compassion, understanding, and care for one another. Thank you for helping make ISW a place where both hearts and minds can grow.
Warmest regards,
Ms. Jodi

PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR:
PRIMARY NEWS
DARE TO DO WHAT YOU DREAM
Year 3 students became inventive engineers in the MAKER SPACE as they designed and built their own imaginative contraptions inspired by Wallace and Gromit. Using creativity, problem-solving, and plenty of teamwork, they experimented with moving parts, simple mechanisms, and playful designs. The lab buzzed with excitement as ideas were tested, refined, and proudly brought to life—very much in the spirit of Wallace’s wonderfully wacky inventions.
BOOK WEEK>
Book Week takes place from 9–13 March, and we are really excited to share a week full of wonderful activities celebrating our love of reading.
Monday 9th: We warmly invite parents to come into school to read stories in their mother tongue, helping us celebrate the rich diversity of our school community.
Tuesday 10th: the Book Fair will be visiting our school, please send money with your kids to school for some book shopping.
Wednesday 11th: Book Swap Café where children can share and discover new books.
Friday 12th: We finish the week in style with Character Dress-Up Day .
We are also thrilled to welcome back our much-loved Masked Reader, adding an extra layer of mystery and fun to the celebrations. We will post the videos of one Masked Reader everyday on Toddle/ Facebook. Please show them to you kids and welcome them to make a guess under the comment or to their teacher.
SECONDARY NEWS
Term 3 is gaining momentum across our Secondary School, with innovation, engagement and future-focused learning shaping our community.
Our Future Skills projects are starting fresh with Resilient Cities, Passion-to-Impact Micro-ventures, and a Global Voices Media Lab, each designed to help students build the mindsets and skills they’ll need beyond school.
Mock Exams are also just around the corner for Years 10–12, giving students valuable practice with the format, expectations and exam conditions as we prepare for the Cambridge exam series in May and June.
All families should now have access to Toddle, our Learning Management System (LMS)>
If you haven’t signed up yet or are unsure how to use the platform, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher. And if you feel your child is struggling in a certain subject area, reach out, our teachers can activate a personalised learning tutor through Toddle to help them catch up or dive deeper in a meaningful, supported way.

COMMUNITY NEWS
OPEN DAY | Mar 20
We’re excited to share that our Open Day is coming up on March 20th, 2026 - and we would love your help to spread this information!
As part of our school community, you are our best ambassadors. We would truly appreciate you sharing that with friends, neighbors, colleagues, and anyone who might be interested in learning more about us.
CAREER DAY | Mar 26
Alongside our Career & Job Fair, we would love to offer our Upper Secondary students (Grades 9–11) a few short internal career talks led by parents from our school community.
In career counselling, we often meet students who already know what they want to become but have never experienced what a real working day in that field looks like. Hearing directly from professionals can make a huge difference.
We are therefore reaching out with a volunteer request for parents to give brief talks about their profession and career path during this time.
This would be highly valued and a wonderful way for us, as a community, to make the most of the expertise we already have — and to offer our students a truly meaningful experience. These talks could also open the door to future mentorship or job-shadowing opportunities.
If you are interested or would like more information, please feel free to contact Ms. Liliana at L.Phieler@is-westpfalz.de
