Usborne Book Fair

On the 14th June we held our second Book Fair. This was a great time to purchase books for the summer and help with our student‘s passion for reading. The students enjoyed stories read by Zoe the Usborne representative and made Wish Lists! This was so well attended and so many books were purchased by Learning Partners and Parents, that we exceeded our previous total raised in our first Book Fair.
As a result of all this fantastic effort we have been able to purchase books to the value of 83...

Summer Show

Our final get-together, the popular Summer Show, took place on Friday 29th June. Families were able to enjoy some incredible musical performances given by our LP’s and certificates were awarded to students showing excellence within specific fields. Well done to all for a very enjoyable, but also quite emotional performance. We also had to say goodbye to one of our pioneer Parents & Friends executives, Wendy and her family. Thank you so much Wendy for all of your support over the last 3 years i...

Grades 5/6 in Exhibition mode

This very important final Exhibition is the culmination of all of our grades 5 & 6 knowledge, skills and strategies that they have used over the past few months or even years! This is the ISW learning cycle in action! The Exhibition is student-driven, where the Learning Partners unpick a larger theme (which for this year is “Sharing the Planet”), and try to develop their passions in an area in which they wish to explore further. First, students have to create their group’s central idea, n...

Light Years ahead with Reception

The Reception LPs were so excited to be back together! We were able to celebrate a birthday with an ice cream snack. We started our new unit of inquiry and are learning about the solar system. They were given a silly sentence to learn to help name the planets: “My Very Excited Mother Just Served Us Nachos”...

Early Years “shares the Planet”

Early Years are starting a new unit this term, “Sharing The Planet”. It will focus on animals, working animals and how to care for animals. In Math we will be collecting data for graphing activities and measuring using non–standard measurements. We will continue with our letter of the week for phonics. As the UOI is all about animals we are hoping to go to two zoos, Siegelbach and Neunkirchen in March together with Reception. We have also started swimming which was a great success and the ...

Focus on community for Years 1 and 2

In Y1/Y2 we have started talking about communities and community helpers. Our central idea is "Our local community supports our needs." We have been talking about the people in the community that help and how we can be helpers. We will be taking a trip to the mayor's office to learn more about our Ramstein community and will have a visit by the Special Forces Unit from the air base (shhhh, this one is a surprise!).
We also love GoNoodle which has awesome videos that get kids moving. LP’s ar...

Presentation techniques in Years 3 and 4

Years 3/4 are hard at work preparing and presenting PowerPoint presentations about planets. As a class we discussed the importance of confidence in presenting. LPs exhibited many of the attributes of the learner profiles during the presentations. They showed what great communicators they can be. They were also a principled and caring audience that listened well and gave positive feedback to the presenter. Great work Year 3/4!
