Our Year fours have been reviewing the role of robots within our society. This research was based upon the Science “Inquiry-Based Learning” module concerning force, motion, and energy - the basis for designing and programming robots. We were extremely honoured to welcome Colonel Trautermann, Assistant chief of staff A5 and Head of the Air Force Liaison Command to USAFE (Leiter Verbindungskommando Lufthwaffe zu USAFE) to our school last week as guest speaker to our secondary school students.

On Thursday 27th May, our Year 8’s held an “upcycling” sale which raised 240€ for a local animal shelter. Upcycling is basically reusing discarded objects in such a way as to create a new product with the focus upon extending the lifespan and minimalizing waste.

This month the LPs in Year 5 have been studying the human body, specifically the respiratory and circulatory systems. To show their knowledge of the circulatory system they created lifesize models, with the heart, veins and arteries. In order to demonstrate the path that oxygen takes as it enters your body, the students in Year 5 created a comic. The main character was depicted as a molecule of oxygen and the comic shows its path through the body.

The first line of focus involved the ability to name and describe the function of the major parts of flowering plants, which was then followed by an experiment involving planting some cress seeds in a plastic bag so we could observe the parts as they germinated.
